2009 December | Electricity Bills Information

I am thinking about switching from TXU to Reliant Energy as my electric company but am wondering about customer service. TXU has never given me a problem and has always been responsive, but I would like to save money on the electric bill. Any one have any experiences (positive or negative) with Reliant or any other Texas electric provider?

I have Sparks energy. I don’t know about Austin but in Houston we have a website that has the "price to beat." The only energy provider is TXU. All the energy companies: Gexa, Reliant, Green Mountain are the ones that charge the customer. I have never heard it makes any difference on who you choose, service will pretty much be the same.

We are moving out of state and I want to know the average cost of a home’s electric and gas bills. Is there a site I can look this up?

MLS.com provides listings of properties available in the state you would be moving to. Unfortuantely, the site lists only the basics on the property, such as asking price, lot size, age of the home, recent renovations/upgrades and usually dimensions of the main rooms. Most multi-family property listings also include the rental income from the units. However, to get the full details on a property, such as annual property taxes and operational expenses, you will need a realtor to "subscribe" you to listings that match your criteria. Only a realtor has access to the full listings. Contact a realtor’s office in the state and area you will be moving to, give them your criteria and expect the listings to come rolling in.
