I’m looking into buying my first home, I asked the seller on average how much the electric and utility bills are during the summer. The price quoted seemed really low, lower than my apartment bills. Is there any way I verify for myself?
SURE. Call the electric company and tell them you’re renting or buying that place and want to know what the bills are. I do it all the time. REalize that your bills may vary greatly due to different habits, different electric devices, and increased costs.
Are electric bills public information?

In Austin, this is not public info, but if you call the utility co and explain what you need. They may give you average or hi/lo.
I’ve had clients who were turned down for this info. They called back and spoke w/a different rep and were given the info.

Yes. Call the electric company and give them the address. Tell them you want to see the average monthly use for that property.

I think you can usually call the electric company to verify. Summer usage can be very low if they do not use an A/C. See if they will give you an old copy of the electric since that usually has a twelve month graph on it.
