I had this same problem last year, where my electricity usage stays the same, but then around this time of year the bill doubles.
Electric consumption is higher during august-september months due to hotter days. Fuel costs also affects your consumption rate making your bill higher. Expect lower bills during next months.
Why do electric bills in Florida double starting around September/August?

because you start using the air conditioner when it gets really hot.

My bill goes up but so does my usage due to the amount we have to use to run the A/C more often. But not exactly sure why yours would double…We haveTECO where I am…so you could be under FPL…not sure.

Maybe it’s warmer at that time, and you are using your centeral air more…. and that uses electricity.

The fuel surcharge is what makes the electric bill go up when the usage stays the same.

Same here with my electric with FP&L, although they have had SEVERAL rate increases and surcharges added after last year so my bill is up by $50 this year with the same kilowatt hours used and everything as last year. FP&L is the culprit!!!
